Multnomah County Board Meeting

đź“ŤMultnomah Building at 501 Southeast Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, OR, 97214, United States

Come to the next Multnomah County Board Meeting this THURSDAY (March 7) at 9:15am and help us fill the room to show community support for a STRONG ceasefire resolution.

The Multnomah County Commissioners need to do better.

After weeks of hearing testimony from Portland community members in support of a strong ceasefire resolution, the board has proposed a watered down version that drastically falls short of our demands.

This resolution does not hold Israel accountable for the active genocide it is committing, and actively supports the colonial agenda of both Israel and the U.S. This proposal is an affront to our sincere call for immediate and permanent ceasefire. Additionally, it has copied and pasted language from the atrocious Multnomah County Democrats resolution, which J Street, a Zionist political organization, has been pushing the commission to adopt.

We cannot allow a resolution that normalizes Zionist talking points.

The last few weeks have been a demonstration of our collective power, as Zionist lobbying groups did not want to see a resolution on the agenda at all. Now we must continue to push for a ceasefire resolution that honors the demands our community has been reiterating for months.

We must demand a just ceasefire resolution from the board that:

  • Calls for an immediate and PERMANENT ceasefire

  • Calls for an END to US military funding of Israel

  • Acknowledges the crimes of the Israeli state against the Palestinian People

  • Does NOT legitimize or codify the continued occupation of Palestinian land through a call for a two state solution

TAKE ACTION:

🗣️ Come out to the board meeting on Thursday, March 7 at 9:15am, showing that Portland demands a STRONG ceasefire resolution. Multnomah Building at 501 Southeast Hawthorne Blvd

📧 Email the commissioners to demand they make amendments to the resolution

Multnomah County needs to do better. Palestinians deserve better. We demand a resolution that centers Palestinian liberation. Genocide in Gaza is ongoing. We are calling for a permanent and lasting ceasefire NOW.

Sponsored by Oregon to Palestine and JVP Portland
