JVP Portland Break the Bonds Shabbat Dinner & Storytelling Workshop
📍NE Portland. RSVP for Location.
Join Jewish Voice for Peace Portland for a warm and engaging Shabbat dinner and storytelling event. Over challah and candlelight we’ll connect with ourselves and others about the lies we’ve been fed about Israel, and about the kind of Jewishness we want to build together. We’ll explore our rejection of oppression, and shift the narrative toward a Jewishness that is accountable to collective liberation. We’re focused on the campaign to divest from Israel Bonds, but all Jews are welcome, even if their divestment stories relate to other institutions! For those who are ready, we’ll also collect some stories on video to help share our truth more widely.
This is the perfect event for those who are struggling after the election and looking for both community and connection to a broader purpose. When we reject Zionism, we also move toward a Jewishness that sees our safety as fundamentally wrapped up in the safety, justice, and liberation of all people.
This event will be a potluck dinner. We will provide a main dish, challah, and wine, and we invite guests to bring a side - ideally something vegetarian, vegan, and/or gluten-free so that all can enjoy!
Please RSVP here. There is limited capacity, so we hope you’ll let us know soon if you’d like to join.

JVP COMMUNITY LIBERATION SEDER
COMMUNITY LIBERATION SEDER
🗓️ SUNDAY, APRIL 28 FROM 2PM - 4:15PM
📍Columbia Park Covered Picnic Area E, N Lombard St and N Russett Ave, behind the “Friends of Columbia Park” building
Join us for a sit-down Pesach (Passover) ritual for anti-Zionist Jews and community of all backgrounds to sit down together, connect, and contemplate this holiday of liberation during ongoing genocide in Gaza.
Drawing from the JVP 5784 Haggadah, Rabbis for Ceasefire, and other sources, we will discuss and reflect on what makes this year different from all other years, and consider the implications of saying “next year in liberation” for Palestine. What does taking action for Palestinian liberation ask of us this year? What do we need from each other, to really undertake this commitment to Palestinian liberation? How can we draw on our community’s strengths during these terrible times? And how can we rely on each other and care for each other as we fight for liberation?
Note: In alignment with JVP National guidelines and in recognition of the ongoing starvation in Gaza, we will not share a festival meal together. However, we will be sharing ritual food items from the Passover seder plate. This is because, like generations of Jews before us, we recognize the power of engaging with these foods in an intentional, embodied and sensory way as an aid to contending with liberation, together. We will be using these foods not in a celebratory or feasting manner, but in a manner that encourages contemplation.

PASSOVER FOR PALESTINE
PASSOVER FOR PALESTINE
🗣️ PASSOVER FOR PALESTINE, TUESDAY APRIL 23 @ 4:00PM
📍 Eastside Federal Building, 911 NE 11th Ave
In the name of liberation, during our most meaningful holiday of the year, JVP Portland demands our reps call for an arms embargo to Israel, refund UNRWA and stop starving Gaza.
Jewish Portlanders and allies will hold a Passover action in front of the Eastside Federal Building calling upon @repblumenauer and @ronwyden to not only demand, but take action toward achieving a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and to immediately reinstate funding to @unrwa. In grief and rage, and after over six months of Israel’s bombardment of Gaza, this Passover members of Jewish Voice for Peace demand the US government stop sending weapons and money to Israel.
The Israeli government has killed over 34,000 Palestinians, destroyed civilian infrastructure and starved the people of Gaza. This would not be possible without the support of the US. Our government is still sending more money and weapons. As US taxpayers we are complicit and must continue taking action for Gaza.
Jewish tradition, and especially the holiday of Passover, calls on us to stand against oppression wherever it may occur and organize for the freedom of all people. Passover is the holiday of liberation honoring the Israelites’ journey from enslavement to freedom. Throughout history, Jews have interpreted this holiday to respond to the current moment. This year, during this holiday of liberation, we fight for a free Palestine, from the river to the sea.

Multnomah County Board Meeting
📍Multnomah Building at 501 Southeast Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, OR, 97214, United States
Come to the next Multnomah County Board Meeting this THURSDAY (March 7) at 9:15am and help us fill the room to show community support for a STRONG ceasefire resolution.
The Multnomah County Commissioners need to do better.
After weeks of hearing testimony from Portland community members in support of a strong ceasefire resolution, the board has proposed a watered down version that drastically falls short of our demands.
This resolution does not hold Israel accountable for the active genocide it is committing, and actively supports the colonial agenda of both Israel and the U.S. This proposal is an affront to our sincere call for immediate and permanent ceasefire. Additionally, it has copied and pasted language from the atrocious Multnomah County Democrats resolution, which J Street, a Zionist political organization, has been pushing the commission to adopt.
We cannot allow a resolution that normalizes Zionist talking points.
The last few weeks have been a demonstration of our collective power, as Zionist lobbying groups did not want to see a resolution on the agenda at all. Now we must continue to push for a ceasefire resolution that honors the demands our community has been reiterating for months.
We must demand a just ceasefire resolution from the board that:
Calls for an immediate and PERMANENT ceasefire
Calls for an END to US military funding of Israel
Acknowledges the crimes of the Israeli state against the Palestinian People
Does NOT legitimize or codify the continued occupation of Palestinian land through a call for a two state solution
TAKE ACTION:
🗣️ Come out to the board meeting on Thursday, March 7 at 9:15am, showing that Portland demands a STRONG ceasefire resolution. Multnomah Building at 501 Southeast Hawthorne Blvd
📧 Email the commissioners to demand they make amendments to the resolution
Multnomah County needs to do better. Palestinians deserve better. We demand a resolution that centers Palestinian liberation. Genocide in Gaza is ongoing. We are calling for a permanent and lasting ceasefire NOW.

Hands Off Rafah Rally + Arrestees Press Conference
📍Multnomah County Courthouse at 1200 SW 1st Ave, Portland, OR, 97204
As Israel continues its genocidal assault on Rafah we must continue to fight for a ceasefire and to end US funding to Israel’s military. Join us for a community rally and press conference to denounce the bombing of Rafah and Israel’s ongoing US-backed genocide in Gaza.
Last month, a group of Jews and allies were arrested in Portland while drawing attention to the International Court of Justice case charging Israel with genocide. Immediately after this rally, our community members will appear in court to resolve their case without conviction, declaring legal victory over the attempt to criminalize moral action for Palestine during this time of emergency. Please show up to support our community and hear from many incredible speakers about the continued need for urgent action to end our government’s complicity in Israel’s genocide.
Please wear a mask! Ceasefire shirts, keffiyehs, and religious dress are welcomed and encouraged.
